Certifications

All coaches -- head, assistant and youth assistant  -- in the tackle program must complete the club's certification requirements. The head coach is responsible to ensure that only certified coaches participate in practices or games. To be certified, a coach must do the following, in addition to completing the volunteer application so that a background check can be conducted:

1. Tackle head coaches must attend Tackle Coaches Orientation and Heads Up Clinics

  • Tuesday Evening, July 30 - 6pm - Cook Center, MidAmerica Nazarene University, Olathe KS
  • Sunday Afternoon, August 4 - 4pm - Zona Rosa Community Room, 8600 N. Dixson Ave., Kansas City MO

2. All tackle coaches (head and assistant) must complete the USA Football On-Line Youth Tackle Coach Certification/Recertification (no charge as KCFC is paying the membership cost for its coaches).
Coaches can access the on-line certification by following the steps below

  • Create account or login at https://account.usafootball.com/login
  • Click on “Training” on the left of the page
  • Click on “Take Me There”
  • Add course
  • Type in Coupon Code when purchasing course: KCFC2019
  • Start Certification
3.  The Kansas City Chiefs will be hosting a USA Football Coach Certification Clinic at their training facility on Saturday, July 27th.  Any coach that attends will receive their USA Football Coach Certification for the 2019 season.  This would be in lieu of the on-line certification -- attending the Clinic will meet the requirements of Heads Up Football.

Date: Saturday, July 27th
Time: 9:00am - 1:00pm
Location: Chiefs Training Facility (1 Arrowhead Drive, Kansas City, MO)

Register for the Clinic by following these steps:
  • Register for/login to your USA Football account here: https://account.usafootball.com/login
  • Once signed in, select “Events” link on left-side of page
  • Select appropriate Clinic
  • Proceed through registration and use the code of KCFC2019
Coaches must complete the above requirements in order to receive a coach pass.  Coach passes are required to be on the sideline.  They also serve as your pass into the complex on game days as there is a $2 daily gate fee in Fall 2019.

How to Volunteer

All coaches need to submit an online Volunteer Application every season.  This may be completed in two ways:

1) You will be prompted to Volunteer when you are completing your child's online registration. Select YES and complete application.
2) If you do not have a child playing or need to add an application, login to your account (or create an account for new users). Click on the Volunteer tab from your account page and Add Volunteer Role. Select the role that you are applying for and complete application.

Background checks will be done on a yearly basis for all Head and Assistant coaches.
