Fall Tackle Football


The fall tackle program is for 3rd through 8th graders and teams are formed by high school area. 

Participants in the tackle program must register on-line after May 1 and then attend one of our weigh-in & equipment check out days scheduled on several Saturdays and weeknights throughout the summer.

Generally, there are six weeks of practice prior to the start of the season -- the first week is for non-contact practices with a minimum number of hours of conditioning to be completed by all tackle players prior to starting contact practices. Players may not participate in practices (non-contact OR contact) until registered on-line, officially weighed in at the complex and provided a copy of a 2019 physical to the coach.

The 2019 tackle season will consist of 6 regular season games beginning the weekend of September 7 and completed by the weekend of October 19.  All teams will play 2 postseason games the weekends of October 26 and November 2.

Weigh-In and Equipment Check

All players registered for Tackle Football are required to attend one KCFC Weigh-in/Equipment Check-Out Days at 162nd & Pflumm. Players on Northland teams will weigh in at dates and locations to be announced.

PRIOR to attending:
1) Register online beginning May 1
2) Pay fees (equipment rental fees must be paid before receiving rental equipment)
3) Check Age & Grade verification listto see if your child is listed. If your child is NOT listed, you will need to bring proof of grade AND age to the weigh in.
4) Print registration confirmation email and bring it with you -- or have available on your smartphone to show registration staff.

2019 Weigh-In Dates at Heritage Park Football Complex:

Saturday, July 20, 8am-Noon  

Late weigh-ins will also be held at Heritage Park on Saturday, August 3 from 9am-Noon, as well as Thursdays, August 8 through 29 from 6-8pm.

At the Weigh-in and Equipment Day, you will:
1) Weigh in
2) Provide proof of grade AND age if your child is not on Verified List.
3) Show registration confirmation email and pay necessary fees. 
4) Get fitted for rented equipment OR get your personally owned equipment approved.
7) Have a physical completed by the doctor on site if you will not receive one from a personal physician before participating in practices.  Physicians from Overland Park Regional Medical Center will be performing physicals at the complex during weigh-ins in 2019.

If your child is not on the verified list (will be updated by May 1), you are required at weigh-in to show proof of grade (report card, yearbook picture, etc.) and age (birth certificate, hospital record, passport, state issued ID, etc.). A copy of the physical needs to be given to the coach at the first practice.

Equipment Information

Rental Equipment:
Equipment may be rented at one of the Weigh-In & Equipment Rental Dates at Heritage Football Complex, 162nd & Pflumm, Olathe KS.

Owned Equipment:
Individuals who own their own equipment must bring it to weigh-in to have the equipment checked and approved by KCFC Staff for use during the season.  

Player-owned helmets should be reconditioned every two or three years.  Helmets manufactured in 2016 are due for reconditioning before use in 2019. It is recommended that it be sent in by late February 2019 as it generally takes 4-6 weeks. Parents should expect to pay for the cost of reconditioning, tax and shipping. The Riddell contact for reconditioning is Steve Washam ([email protected]).  ASA Football also reconditions helmets -- contact is Ken Lewis at [email protected] 
Even though you may purchase a “new” helmet, check the manufactured date to make sure that it is not due for reconditioning before usage.

Helmets which were manufactured more than two years ago are out of date and may not be used if they have not been reconditioned. KCFC recommends that helmets be reconditioned every three years.

Returning Equipment:
Players choosing to quit should return their equipment to the KCFC office at 15030 W 106th St. Lenexa, Ks 66215, during regular business hours (Mon-Fri, 10 am to 4 pm). If quitting before games begin, the equipment rental fee will be refunded, less a $5 administrative fee.

Ball Size
Game balls shall be Pee Wee size for 3rd grade, Junior size for 4th, 5th, and 6th grades, and Youth/Intermediate size for 7th and 8th grades.

Tackle Football Waitlist

The Tackle Football waitlist is now activated.  If your chlld has a team (coach), please be sure to list their name in the Requested Coach field during the registration process.  We will activate the registration and coach will be notified.  If you do not have a coach, we will make every attempt to place your child on a team.

Next available weigh-in date will be Thursday, August 8 from 6-8pm at Heritage Park Football Complex.  Northland players can weigh in at one of the Northland sites on August 5, 6, 7 or 8.

Football Complex Admission

For the fall season, there is a $2 daily admission fee to the Heritage Park Football Complex for anyone 18 and older.  Season passes may be purchased for $15 during the registration process or during weigh-ins at Heritage Football Complex or on opening day.


A doctor is available at scheduled weigh-ins to perform a sports physical for a fee before practices begin. Tackle players MUST have a physical prior to starting practices. Physicals performed at the complex are completed by a physician from Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

Cost: $30

If players are taken to their personal physician, you may find a physical form here. If you need to have the "official" form to be submitted for school physicals as well, click here for Missouri or Kansas.  Physicals must be turned in to your coach prior to the first practice. Physicals must be dated after February 1, 2019, to be valid for the 2019 fall tackle football season.


Financial Assistance

Families in need of financial assistance for the equipment rental fee or registration fee may complete a scholarship request form. Deadlines have been established for each scholarship program and are noted on the appropriate scholarship application.
Please note that scholarships are reviewed after the posted deadline.  If approved, scholarships will be applied once your portion has been paid. As a reminder, a maximum of 50% can be awarded. You may log in and make payments if paying the full amount is not possible all at once.
