Why KCFC?

The following "highlights" make the KCFC football and Cheerleading program the best in our area:

Games

  • The majority of games are played at a 10-field complex in Heritage Park - no moving around from week to week to different locations.  Our complex also provides permanent and temporary restrooms as well as a concession operation.  We have developed a relationship with the KC Chiefs and play a limited number of games at the Chiefs Youth Field near Arrowhead.
  • Certified Athletic Trainers for Overland Park Regional Medical Center are on-site for all game days.
  • A sportsmanship committee is "on duty" during all games to oversee and deal with any issues with coaches, spectators or players.

Programs
  • Teams/squads are formed by grade and high school area.
  • There is a minimum play rule - all participants play a minimum number of plays per half in tackle and flag programs.
  • There are restrictions on the number of practices and length of practice per week; we also require a specific number of conditioning practices prior to the start of contact practices.
  • Over 80 teams participated in our tackle program last year.  Rarely do teams play the same team more than once during the season.
  • Our spring and fall flag programs are available to grades K-6; the fall tackle program is for grades 2-8.
  • We have a certification program for coaches that includes training clinics and other opportunities through our alliance with USA Football.
  • We have hosted a Preseason Kick-Off Classic prior to the start of the regular season plus the Mid-States Tournament of Champions/Super Saturday in November.  The November event brings in nearly 100 teams from throughout the Midwest.

Financial

  • While a registration fee is required, KCFC provides raffle tickets to help parents offset the cost.
  • Many of the high school areas or individual teams/squads do fundraising or obtain sponsors to help with other costs (uniforms, practices, etc.)
  • KCFC offers financial assistance to those unable to afford to pay fees.
